This March, Eagle Drilling Services (Eagle) hosted “Eagle Drilling Academy”, which was months in the making. Southern Nevada organizations were mobilized far and wide and, in the end, hands were shaken, PDHs compiled, and holes were made.

The full day event was supported by a wide range of professional organizations including AEG, ASCE, SNWA, Terrasonic, NSPE, ACEC, LVVWD, APWA and GES.

The day began with donuts and bagels as guests discussed the morning’s food with holes. The first presentation of the day detailed the long list of important steps that need to be accomplished before a boring could begin. This was followed by demonstrations of four different drilling techniques ranging from air knife excavation to sonic drilling.  Along the way an audience of fifty learned about geothermal heating and cooling, groundwater management, and aquifer trends.  Finally, idea swapping and networking completed the day.

The conclusion for many was that it takes a lot of equipment, time, and materials to complete most borings. Guests earned as many as eight PDH’s/CEU’s satisfying the needs of Professional Engineers and Certified Environmental Managers. By the following Monday Eagle already had current and future clients asking when the next “Academy” will be held.

Don’t worry, Eagle is already looking at their calendar so stay tuned…
