Job Title:  Environmental Project Professional

Location: Las Vegas

Status:  Full-Time/Exempt

Summary: The Environmental Project Professional is responsible for using discretion and independent judgment in the timely and accurate completion of assigned complex projects. This position affects the business operations of the Environmental Program to a substantial degree. The project professional assures the client shall receive the scope of services described in the contract between the firm and the client and that the cost of the project shall be within established budget.

Environmental project professionals are expected to use their background, education, and common sense to complete all assigned tasks. They will be required to perform and oversee office and field work including but not limited to: Phase I ESAs, Phase II’s and Phase III’s, environmental/geologic logging, soil/groundwater/air/vapor sampling, monitoring well installation and development, and preparation of environmental reports in conformance with GES, client, and regulatory standards and schedules. They are expected to coordinate all activities with project teams and the Environmental Builder.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare proposals and budgets
    • Track project progression and budget
    • Assist with project invoicing
  2. Manage projects with staff, drillers, subconsultants, clients, and regulators, including:
    • Prepare work and project schedules, and coordinate with field representatives, clients and vendors for field work.
    • Maintain excellent communications with the above, handle disputes and apply policies and procedures with tact and diplomacy.
    • Keep Environmental Builder updated and involved as appropriate.
  3. When managing staff on projects: monitor and review completed work, identify training and development needs and provide opportunities for training.
    • Show leadership qualities continuously
    • Conduct problem and conflict resolution
    • If needed bring in the Environmental Builder to maintain discipline by initiating corrective action according to company policies.
  4. Perform and oversee site reconnaissance, field exploration, soil logging and sampling.
    • This will include travel to other offices or out-of-town sites.
  5. Perform and oversee air/vapor sampling, vapor well installation, and well observations & documentation.
    • This will include travel to other offices or out-of-town sites.
  6. Perform and oversee groundwater sampling; monitoring well installation and development; well observations & documentation
    • This will include travel to other offices or out-of-town sites.
  7. Perform and oversee interpretation of environmental and geologic data
  8. Perform and oversee database and literature review of relevant published documents
  9. Prepare and review environmental reports and letters including Phase I ESAs, Phase II and Phase III documents, regulatory reports and letters
    • Review all lab results, edit, work with staff, submit to client
  10. Train on Metafield and use it for all appropriate environmental related projects
    • Review daily reports for completeness and accuracy (e.g., correct project name and address, project number, date, site activities, etc.)
  11. Produce quality work on time
  12. Follow Safety Manual guidelines
  13. Assist other APMs and PMs
  14. Maintain involvement with applicable professional association(s)
  15. Other duties as assigned

 

Education, Knowledge, and Skills:

Required:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Studies, or Geology/Engineering with an environmental focus.
  • Certified Environmental Manager
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient understanding of environmental geology
  • Consulting attitude and aptitude
  • Highly motivated to provide quality client service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, including experience with Word and Excel required, AutoCAD/GIS preferred
  • Valid NV driver’s license
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors

Desired:

  • Certified Asbestos Abatement Consultant – Inspector and Supervisor (Nevada/Utah)
  • Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector, Risk Assessor, Supervisor (Nevada/Utah)
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER
  • OSHA 30 Hour
