We are excited to announce the opening of our newest laboratory in St. George, Utah! This expansion marks a significant milestone for GES, as we now operate four construction material testing laboratories in Las Vegas, Reno, Mesquite, and St. George, respectively. Each lab is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by experienced professionals committed to providing high-quality materials testing. Our laboratory manager, supervisors, and technicians maintain certification and accreditation for equipment, methodologies, quality controls, and technical training.

Highlights from Our Labs
With so much demand for accredited testing, GES laboratory staff members continually pursue and obtain new certifications. Recently, our AASHTO-accredited Las Vegas laboratory celebrated the certification of several lab technicians in two NAQTC specialized tests. Alex, Taylor, and Carolyn have joined Judd, our laboratory manager, and Brian in receiving TSR and R-Value certifications. R-Value certification enables our technicians to assess a soils strength resistance to vertical pressure, a crucial factor for clients working on pavement design for state highway agencies.

The TSR (Tensile Strength Ratio) certification allows GES to evaluate the effects that moisture and varying temperatures can have on asphalt pavements. By compacting asphalt samples and then subjecting them to a freeze-thaw cycle, we can compare the strength of saturated tested samples to control samples. This analysis helps us measure the loss of durability and strength in pavement compaction due to yearly moisture damage, ultimately leading to safer and longer lasting highways.

In Reno, our AASHTO-accredited lab achieved accreditation for masonry testing over the summer. This enhances our many capabilities, allowing us to provide comprehensive testing services that ensure the quality and integrity of masonry materials. With this new accreditation, we can offer even greater support to our clients on a variety of construction projects.

Even at our brand-new lab in St. George, we are already adding a new compressive strength test machine. This technology gives GES the capability to test concrete cylinders and beams as well as masonry prisms in southern Utah, enabling us to provide critical data that supports safer and more resilient infrastructure projects.

Why This Matters to You
The expansion of certifications across our labs and the opening of our St. George lab significantly improves our ability to serve you. With four labs in operation, we can efficiently manage testing workloads across locations. If one lab experiences a surge in demand, we can seamlessly redistribute testing responsibilities among our facilities. This flexibility ensures we can quickly respond to your needs, no matter where you are in our service zones.

Thank You for Your Support
As we continue to grow, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your loyal support and trust in GES. Our dedicated team is here to assist you with all your geotechnical, environmental, and construction material testing and inspection needs. If you have any questions or would like more information about our services, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
