If you lived in St. George in the 80’s you knew about the cool shopping center off Bluff Street. It was home to an ice cream shop, record store, and a K-Mart. The shopping center quickly became a hub for the community where people would both shop and gather.
Over time the property had begun to show its age, and was no longer a focal point of the community. Thankfully, redevelopment has come to the west side of town and with it comes the new St. George Place. A product of the McCarther Development Team, the project will inject some new retail opportunities into the area including Christensens, REI, Hobby Lobby and Five Below. For GES, the property’s rebirth is more than a local feel-good story; it’s the first contract for our St. George office. Currently, GES is conducting special inspections for utilities, concrete and steel, with plans to test floor flatness soon. Additional work is sure to come as tenant improvements begin.
There is something special about being part of the revitalization of a historic neighborhood, especially since St. George Place will have a special place in our history as well.
