Job Title: Staff Engineer
Status: Full-Time/Exempt
Summary: Assists in civil engineering projects by performing the following duties after fully trained.
Essential Job Functions:
- Site reconnaissance, including geologic site reconnaissance and geotechnical site layout
- Subsurface explorations, including logging of geotechnical borings and test pit excavations
- Perform geophysical studies, including resistivity, P.M. and seismic refraction surveys
- Perform laboratory tests and non-routine tests
- Interpretation of geotechnical and geologic data
- Geotechnical calculations/evaluations, including utilizing computer software
- Literature search and review of relevant published documents
- Geotechnical reports and letters including design evaluations, compliance letters, and pad certifications
- Construction materials testing & observations
- Review daily reports for completeness and accuracy (e.g., correct project name, project number, date, report number, address, proctor number, value, etc.)
- Train on Metafield and use it for all construction related projects
- Review all lab results, edit, work with PM, submit to client (indicate pass/fail)
- Review all concrete/masonry results, edit, work with PM, submit to client (indicate pass/fail)
- Build grading summary reports weekly as project progresses
- Work with Dispatch, PM and field/lab staff to correct reports
- Perform initial review of invoices on assigned projects using data collected
- Input data as needed in tabular form
- Prepare geotechnical & construction related work orders and proposals
- Submit and obtain encroachment permits and traffic control
- Produce quality work on time
- Follow Safety Manual guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Knowledge, and Skills Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or the equivalent thereof.
- Valid drivers license
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors
- Excellent verbal and detailed writing skills
- Computer skills, including experience with Word and Excel required, AutoCAD/GIS preferred
Compensation: Starting at $60k annually
